6 Tips For Creating A Perfectly Cozy Fall Reading Nook
A cozy fall reading nook. It’s a must for fall. There’s a chill in the air, a comfy blanket, and a hot cup of your favorite beverage, and you have the perfect vibe for curling up with a good book. This fall, instead of just plopping on the couch or lying in bed, (although those are perfectly valid choices), why not create a special area to spend your reading time in. Here are some tips for designing a perfectly cozy fall reading nook.
Why You Should Have A Reading Nook For Fall
If you’re a reader, you know that there’s nothing better than curling up with a good book. I don’t know about you, but for me, it gets even better in the fall when it gets cooler and you have somewhere special to sit down with that book. For those of us who experience SAD, or seasonal affective disorder, the change in weather can take a toll on our mental health. Taking action like creating comforting spaces, has helped me to navigate the colder weather, and keep my mood high. Let’s get to the cozy fall reading nook tips.
Tips For Creating A Cozy Fall Reading Nook
Even if you don’t have an extra room or large space, you can still create a cozy fall reading nook. Here are 6 tips to give you some inspiration.
1. Find the perfect spot
Even if space is limited, there are definitely ways you can make it work. I think the most important thing is that you choose an area where you can read without too many interruptions. I realize that could be tough if you have little kids. You know your life and lifestyle, so take all that into consideration. By a window is always great. The corner of a room. Even an unused closet could work.
2. Choose the right lighting
This is key. You need to have great lighting to reduce eye strain. But also important is the mood lighting for the area. I’m talking candles, twinkle lights, etc. It all adds to creating a cozy and warm space.
3. Make it soft
For me, coziness has a lot to do with softness. And that means fluffy pillows, comfy blankets, rugs, and fuzzy socks. They all add to the comfy feeling. Just be careful because it could put you to sleep. Although a little nap is great too.
4. Seating matters
You definitely want comfortable seating, whatever that means to you. A chair, loveseat, chaise lounge, beanbag chair, or even a hammock chair.
5. Make it personal
It’s always nice to add personal touches to your space. It makes it yours, and adds to the happiness factor of the area. Artwork, plants, crystals, mementos, whatever makes you feel good.
6. A side table is a must
You have to have a place to put the essentials. Books, a warm cup of your favorite beverage, a glass of wine, and some snacks. And it doesn’t have to be an actual table. It could be a stool, a bench, a trunk, even an upside down wooden box or basket.
Hope these tips help and you make the cozy fall reading nook of your dreams.
