Lil Baby Arrested In Las Vegas For Concealed Weapon Charge
Rapper Lil Baby was arrested in Las Vegas after being accused of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Multiple sources reported that the rapper, whose real name is Dominique Armani Jones, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit following his arrest on Monday, Aug 26.
PEOPLE reported that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed his arrest at around 5 a.m. after an incident occurred on the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard. Additional details were not disclosed. Court records indicate he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and later posted bond. He is due back in court on Oct. 1.
In a joint statement to The Los Angeles Times, his attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, stated that Lil Baby has “a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit.” Their statement further added, “On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.” According to the Attorney General of Georgia’s website, Nevada does not recognize concealed weapons permits from Georgia.
“Georgia weapons license holders should familiarize themselves with the individual requirements and limitations on Georgia weapons licenses in any of the states where they may wish to exercise their rights,” the website states. “Weapons laws vary from state to state and there may be municipal or county ordinances regulating weapons in other states.”
According to Billboard, Lil Baby had previously faced legal issues in 2021 when he was detained in France during Paris Fashion Week after being cited for allegedly “transporting drugs.” The outlet also reported that he was arrested in Atlanta for reckless driving in February 2019.
In 2022, the rapper released his last album, It’s Only Me. Lil Baby has been actively teasing his follow-up project on social media, with his last Instagram post before his arrest stating, “Album 80% Done ….. #sorry4thewait.”
Recently, body cam footage from 2020 surfaced online showing Lil Baby being pulled over by police for tinted windows. He was reportedly stopped because his window tints were too dark. The viral video shows a calm interaction between the rapper and the police officer. After the officer explained why he pulled Lil Baby over, the rapper responded, “Man, I’m a celebrity. Man, nobody can’t see me through my tint. Give me my ticket. Let me ride.”
The officer claimed to be unaware that he was speaking to one of the biggest names in hip-hop. Lil Baby replied, “It don’t matter. Just give me my ticket. Just let me ride,” before adding, “I can’t have nobody seeing me right here. Imma let my window up.”
The officer then returned to his patrol car and later handed the rapper a ticket, explaining the legal tint percentage in Atlanta. Lil Baby remarked, “Y’all giving folks tickets knowing that the economy down.”
“Now who are you?” the officer eventually asked. “Lil Baby,” the rapper responded. The law official then asked him to sign the ticket. “Got a pen?” Baby asked.
He took a pen from the officer and began signing the ticket on the dashboard. Before starting to write, the rapper commented, “Gotta have tints in Atlanta. These folks crazy.” He added, “I’ll take a ticket before I have somebody follow me home.”
