“I Came Upon A Lot Of Money And Now I’m Broke” Can You Top THIS Story?
You’ve heard numerous stories of people coming into a lot of money and blowing it all. It happens everyday. Whether it’s an athlete or celebrity who gets rich quick and loses it all. Or it could be someone who wins the lottery only to find out they spent it all super fast on random things. Regardless, it does happen. And after Ramiro from The Getup Crew told his story about his cousin, we heard from many of you who had outrageous “I Came Upon A Lot Of Money And Now I’m Broke” stories.
Ramiro told the story on the air about his cousin who we’ll call “Joe.” “Joe” recently won $10,000 in a Super Bowl square raffle and decided he wanted to use that money to visit his “girlfriend” who he’s never met that lives in the Philippines. They’ve only spoken on the phone, they have never video chatted and because of this, Ramiro’s family seems to think he’s going to get catfished and waste all of his money for no reason. That money will be gone in a matter of days and “Joe” is normally broke. So he’ll be right back to broke which prompted us to ask our listeners to give us their best “I Came Upon A Lot Of Money And Now I’m Broke” stories. Here’s what we got:
Manda Bagley says: “I one time came across $10,000 and I blew it all on Amazon. To be fair we had just moved to the city and I had always been someone from a very small area the biggest store we had was the grocery store and you would have had to drive 3 hours to hit a mall. So when we moved and I came across the money needless to say I went Buckwild when I realized how many places there are in this world to shop.”
Elizabeth Warwick had our best story of the morning: “My best friend sold her house and ended up with 90k she had (retired) high security clearance job in the military (we called her a spy and she never denied it lol) was talking to a girl online and she ended up giving her close to 80k. Oh wait gets better. My friends sent her the money and the money was being sent to Turkey ( not really an America friendly country) we are very sure she funded terrorism at some point.”
