He was found GUILTY of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The verdict was not streamed due to it being a federal case but media in the courtroom said Diddy’s family immediately clapped and cheered and Diddy fell to his knees and prayed before telling his family “thank you and I love you.” Fans reacted in front of the court house by dancing and pouring baby oil on each other.
Soon as the verdicts were read, both the defense and prosecution submitted letters to the judge pleading their case as to why or why he shouldn’t be released on bail. Cassie argued through her lawyer that Diddy was a danger to victims who testified against him and to others to which the judge agreed because hours after the verdicts were read, bail was denied. According to the judge: “Prior to trial, the court denied bail, and sees no reason to reverse that now.” Adding that his violence against Cassie is depicted in the video.
So what’s next? Diddy’s sentencing is October 3 however the judge says he will expedite it which the defense agreed they wanted to do so there’s a hearing on that July 8th. How much time will he serve, so each of the two counts he’s been convicted of have a maximum sentence of 10 years but they COULD be served concurrently. It’s hard to determine what the judge will do but the prediction of most of the experts I’ve seen is anywhere from 2-4 years and since he’s already served almost a year, he could get out in a year.
Reactions to the verdict came fast with Aubrey O’Day, who’s spoken publicly about Diddy’s abuse for years, posted on IG “I can only hope these jurors never have to watch someone they love endure what so many survivors have described.” 50 Cent, who’s been trolling Diddy since his arrest posted "Diddy beat the Feds that boy a bad man ! 👏👏👏 beat the Rico, he the Gay Jhon Gotti." And Cassie’s lawyer released a statement saying "By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”
As far as fan reactions, they came fast and strong:
