One of my close friends' son plays in Teddy Swims' band. Addy plays guitar for Teddy and for years I've heard my friend Bobby brag about how amazing his son is and the artist he plays for. While I knew of Teddy Swims and fell in love with his voice when I heard "Lost Control" for the first time, I really hadn't heard much of his music. That changed Friday night when I saw him live at Suffolk Downs in Revere, right outside of Boston.

Teddy performed for an hour and 35 minutes roughly. No breaks. A few costume changes (maybe a change of a jacket or shirt but that's it). Now since I hadn't been exposed to Teddy's music much, this entire set was new to me. What you can't deny is his talent. He has one of the more unique voices in music today. But on top of his pure singing talent, his actual songs are FIRE! From Bad Dreams to Hammer to the Heart to The Door. I even have a new favorite song: Northern Lights. Do yourself a favor. If you haven't been introduced to Teddy Swims' music yet, take a listen to Northern Lights first, then The Door and come back to me and let me know your opinion.

When asked what genre Teddy Swims music is, I'd say, you really can't put him in a box. His music is just different. But if I had to, I'd describe it as soul, pop, rnB with a little bit of country inspiration. It's funny because when I asked my friend Bobby's son how he'd label it, he also said soul, pop, rnb. Enjoy some videos from the show. Oh, and did I mention I got to meet Teddy too and yes, he was amazing. So nice and accommodating to all the fans who had a chance to meet him. Take a listen and if you ever have a chance to see him live, DO IT!
