What's The Worst Job You've Ever Done?

Dimes in a pile

A story has made headlines this week of a tractor trailer carrying 8 million dimes spilled over on a highway in North Texas. The dimes equaled hundreds of thousands of dollars and had the highway closed for hours while crews went to pick up EACH AND EVERY ONE. Some workers were seen on their hands and knees on the highway picking up the dimes with their bare hands. This has to be the absolute worst job in the world right? WRONG!

So we put the question out to our listeners this week about the worst job you've ever been asked to do. We received answers from EMTs, health care workers, plumbers and more. Some of these jobs aren't for weak stomachs.

Kacie: "The country club I worked at made me clean the CHAIRS with pipe cleaners (those soft long fuzzy strings we used back in the day for arts and crafts)"

Jj Marie: "I was on the asking end, I’m in my 30’s now but when I was 15 I wanted to pierce my nose. So I asked my cousin if she could do it for me . We knew a needle wasn’t going to suffice because of how thin it would be so we scrambled around to see what we could find to pierce my nose, we settled on a carrot and a wall tack… carrot in the nose for stability and then she jammed a tack in. Worst idea ever...do not recommend..but my nose is still pierced to this day."

Todd: "Clean hoarder houses. Nasty job. Worse than cleaning up after a dead body which I’ve done too"

Mary: "A co-worker at a former job would poop her pants in the office. She would then as me if I could "see anything" on the back of her pants as she walked around the department. If I said "yes", she would go home to change, but if my answer was "no", she would continue on with her workday. When I complained to the manager, I was told that there was nothing they could do about it, because she wasn't violating the company dress code. I wish I was making this up."

And finally, this one may turn your stomach so bear with us. This came as a message on our Facebook page from Kiara: "This isn’t gross to me, because I’m so used to doing it regularly lol but this was actually featured on the tv show Dirty Jobs. If you have a male horse, you have to do something called sheath cleaning. So basically everyone knows horses have big winkies…so when it’s not dropped it sucks up into what we call a sheath. Well we have to stick our hand and arm up into the sheath and clean out what is called smegma…which consists of dirt, dibris, skin cells etc that builds up in there. It goes about elbow deep. Then they also get a big buildup of it in the tip of their winkie, which is called the bean, and we have to pop that out of the tip, cause it can affect how they pee on top of it being uncomfortable for them having it there. But the look on people’s faces when they get their first horse and have no idea that this is something that we need to do"
