Gen Z is defined as individuals born between the late 1990s and early 2010s, typically considered to be those born from 1997 to 2012. These people are also known as the first real generation that completely grew up in the digital age where the internet was always accessible to them. It's because of the internet, that many basic and common things that the Boomer generation grew up on have never been a part of the Gen Z life. Some of these 'basic' skills will surprise you.

Reading maps: If there isn't a GPS, a Gen Z'er can't get anywhere. There is even proof that many don't even know how to find north, south, east or west. I mean why not when a GPS has always existed?

Writing in cursive: This makes sense since cursive is no longer taught in MOST schools. It's still being taught in some but only a small few. Many blame reduced relevance and technology as the reasons.

How to tell time on a clock with hands: 21% in Gen Z – between age 18 and 24 say they found it a problem trying to tell time with clock hands. Many asking for the big hand and the little hand.

Writing checks: Writing a check has become somewhat of a lost art. Zelle, Paypal, Venmo, Cash App have become the most efficient ways of paying for things these days however, checks are still written in some situations.

Typing on an actual keyboard: Touch screens have really taken over for a traditional keyboard. Many of us were taught typing in school but not so much anymore.
