But for some reason, pickles and searches for pickle flavored food and drink has increased significantly over the years. Why is that? Let's take a look at some pickle related statistics and then, I'll tell you my latest pickle flavored obsession.
The increase in interest for pickle flavored food and drink has been rising since 2023. Yelp reported a 55% increase in searches for pickle-flavored foods in 2023, and Grubhub noted an 89% increase in pickle orders during the same period. The pickle market is projected to reach $12.3 billion by 2027. Thanks to this uptick in pickle searches, there has been a boom for pickle flavored foods you'd never expect.
Pickle pizza: Yes pickle pizza is sweeping the nation. Even one of the pizza capitals of the world, NYC, has gotten in on the action.
Pickle soda: Several companies are making its own versions of pickle soda. Most are made with pure cane sugar and mimics the taste of sipping from a pickle jar.
Pickle ice cream: This is sold as both soft serve and regular and a famous company that sells it is Van Leeuwen.
Pickle popcorn: Several different stores sell this staple like Trader Joe's and Target. Gourmet Popcorn companies are making it as well.
Pickle chips: Here is where my personal favorite pickle flavored food comes in. I discovered pickle chips from a social influencer I follow named Samantha Milton. She goes to Jersey Mike's and orders high protein meals and accompanies them with Miss Vicky's pickle chips. I've looked for these chips everywhere but Jersey Mike's has them and they're AMAZING. An alternative when you can't find Miss Vicky's is UTZ pickle chips. Absolutely delicious.
Pickle martini: I tried this on a cruise. It's exactly what you'd think it would taste like. A vodka martini with pickle juice for flavor and it's delicious.
