WWE’s Raw made its Netflix debut in Los Angeles Monday night (Jan. 6), and the wrestling tag team New Day stirred up some controversy by calling out Kendrick Lamar in his home state.

“Think about it,” Xavier Woods of New Day began. “The past six months y’all have been elevating this trash rapper Kendrick Lamar.” The large crowd at the Intuit Dome responded with loud boos.

Kofi Kingston joined in, saying, “Boo him! We think he sucks, too. Boo him, yes!”

The pair leaned into the negative reaction, a classic wrestling tactic to draw attention. Fans online had mixed reactions. One user on X called it “insane work,” while another described it as “top-tier trolling.”

However, some fans were frustrated that the clip was only accessible to those in the arena or Netflix subscribers with the ad-free plan. Those watching on the standard-with-ads tier missed out, as the segment was cut.

Now, fans are left wondering if Kendrick Lamar will respond, either directly or through his music.

It’s probably because Drake and Kendrick’s ongoing tension spilled into the wrestling world last year when WWE legend Shawn Michaels extended a unique invitation.

“A little Sweet Chin Music goes a long way,” Michaels wrote on X. “@kendricklamar, you and @Drake are formally invited to #WWENXT to settle this thing. I’m even offering my services to mediate.”

The offer came after Kendrick referenced Michaels’ iconic move in his diss track “Not Like Us,” rapping “Sweet Chin Music, and I won’t pass the aux, aye.”

Whether Kendrick takes notice of New Day’s comments remains uncertain, but fans will be watching closely for his next move.
